Motor vehicle accidents can cause a great deal of harm. Such accidents can cause individuals to suffer injuries and can sometimes even have fatal results. This is one of the many reasons why it is very important for motor vehicle drivers in Portland to practice safe and responsible driving when out on the roads. Unfortunately, a recent report indicates that Portland motorists might not be driving in as safe a manner as one would hope. The report was issued by the insurance company Allstate. The report ranked 200 U.S. cities in order of the safety of the drivers of the cities. Reportedly, the measure that the report used to determine the safety of a city’s drivers was the frequency of car accidents for the city’s drivers. According to the report, currently, the rate of experiencing a car accident for an average driver in Portland is one accident every eight years. Based on this car collision frequency rate, the report ranked Portland 151st when it comes to driver safety. Thus, according to the report, a good deal of cities are ahead of Portland when it comes to driver safety. Portland’s ranking in this report also appears to indicate that the safety of Portland drivers has slipped in the past year. Reportedly, in last year’s report, Portland was ranked 128th. This report gives rise to some important questions. Why does Portland rank so poorly when it comes to driver safety? Is anything in particular behind the decline in rank Portland experienced in the past year? What can/should be done to make Portland a safer city when it comes to driving? One wonders what the answers to these questions are. What do you think of this report and its findings regarding Portland?
