Collisions between bicycles and motor vehicles can be very harmful to bicyclists. Such accidents can result in bicyclists suffering impactful injuries. This is one of the many reasons why it is very important for motor vehicle drivers to exercise appropriate care when driving in areas where bicycles are present. Earlier this week, an accident happened in Portland which resulted in a bicyclist getting hurt. The accident occurred on Monday. That morning, an individual was riding a bicycle in southeast Portland. According to authorities, on SE Stark Street, a collision occurred between this bicycle and an SUV. Reportedly, this car vs. bicycle accident is still in the process of being investigated. According to the KATU article which reported this story, the individual who was riding the bicycle sustained injuries in this car vs. bicycle accident. This individual was taken to a hospital after the crash occurred. The above-mentioned KATU article did not have any details regarding the extent or nature of the individual’s injuries. As this incident illustrates, car vs. bicycle accidents can result in bicyclists getting injured. Thus, it is very important for motor vehicle drivers in Oregon to take all reasonable steps to prevent car vs. bicycle accidents. This includes making sure to keep an eye out for bicyclists when out on the roads. It also includes obeying all applicable traffic laws when driving. If motor vehicle drivers fail to do these things, they could be putting the safety of bicyclists that they share the roads with at risk.
